04.10.2013 | IN REMEMBRANCE OF LUDWIG HAMBURGER

It is with deep regret that AirBridgeCargo Airlines has to report that Ludwig Hamburger, Vice President & Regional Director Europe, Middle East & Africa, passed away suddenly on 27 September 2013.

Ludwig was born in 1955 in Frankfurt and initially trained as a wholesale and foreign trade merchant. In 1982, he began his airfreight career at Air Canada in Germany and went on to join Air New Zealand in 1997. There he acted as the Head of Air Cargo for the United Kingdom and Europe until 2008 when joined AirBridgeCargo.

Ludwig Hamburger was an exceptional and respected executive with broad international experience and his region has played an important role in the growth and development of AirBridgeCargo. With his passing not only AirBridgeCargo Airlines but the entire air cargo industry loses a dedicated personality. He always fulfilled his responsibilities and duties with great personal commitment and always stood up for the interests of his employees.

The development of the air cargo industry was always close to Ludwig’s heart and he worked actively for years within the BARIG Cargo Committee, most recently as its Chairman.

During his time at AirBridgeCargo Airlines, with Ludwig’s unique, inimitable style he earned the unconditional respect and recognition of all employees, senior management, customers and business associates.

Ludwig Hamburger was always a positive person who knew how to combine social engagement with sports activities. He actively supported the “Geschwisterhaus T?bingen” for sick children with the proceeds of his annual golf tournament.

He passed away in Heidelberg after a short illness. Our sincere condolences go to his family, closest friends and colleagues.
